Tania’s Lam Compact Portable Oxygen Fundraiser

As most of you are aware Dec 2014 my sister Tania was diagnosed with an aggressive rare lung disease Lymphangioleiomyomatosis otherwise  known as  LAM. It affects only 2 in a million women  and is in no way linked to lifestyle choices but by chromosomes and the hormones associated with pregnancy/ being of child bearing age. The hormones associated with women at this stage of life are known to enhance symptoms and is often when women are diagnosed. Cysts form and spread like cancer throughout the lungs obstructing the airways causing shortness of breath, fluid build up on the lungs and comes with many complications.  There is no cure for Lam and while I struggle to say it, the truth is it’s terminal  Her quality of life is massively affected as she has to rely on oxygen 20 hrs a day and has a heavy gas bottle style portable tank to carry when leaving the house. I am trying to raise enough funds for her to be able to purchase a handbag style portable concentrator which is $5k alone to enable her to have a more positive quality of life and be able to leave the house without hurting her shoulder using the heavy tank she has atm. She is self conscious and hates using the big obvious tank so avoids many social outings. She is going to kill me for organising this as she is always so independent helping everyone else before herself, but as many of you mentioned you would prefer to contribute to her directly with the city to bay fundraiser I organised to raise money for research of Lam, I thought some of you may want to contribute to help her enjoy life as best she can with this progressive illness.
