Tanner Buffkin’s Medical expenses.

Tanner Buffkin is 13 years old, he is in 8th grade and loves to hunt and fish.   Last week Tanner got sick and tested positive for the flu. After 5 days Tanner was still sick and seemed to have gotten worse instead of better.  His mom took him back to the doctor and they did blood work on him.  His labs where very concerning so they admitted him to Grand Strand Medical center.   After being there and them running test they wanted to transfer Tanner to MUSC (Medical University of S.C.) for additional testing.  Tanner was transferred to MUSC on Thursday and  after extensive testing  his parents received devastating news that no parent ever wants to hear. “Your son has leukemia”. On Friday Tanner received a platelet transfusion then went into surgery for a spinal tap, bone marrow draw and to have a pic line placed. He responded to transfusion and surgery went well. As of now all we have to report is that we know we are looking at a minimum of a 6 month stay. With the possibility to go home a few times in between for a short term 5-7 day stay and then return back for next round of Chemo. This will only depending on how his body responds to his treatments. Tanner is in good spirits right now and he has had his first day of chemo.  His chemo treatments will last for 36 days at a time and he will endure 6 rounds.  Please continue to lift Tanners name in prayer and remember his family as they have a long road ahead of them.   One of Tanners biggest fears was that he would be alone in the hospital because he knew his parents both need to work but they have assured him that he will always have one of them present as he flights the flight of his life.   I can only imagine how scared he is and how important having his mom or dad with him will be.   Please if you can donate to help them be able to be with their son in this time and not have to have the burden of worrying how they are going to pay medical bills and just their normal everyday expenses weighing down on them it would be greatly appreciated.
