Tanner's Bull Riding Accident
Donation protected
As many friends and family already know, Tanner was involved in a bull riding accident March 6th, where his throat collided with a bull's horn. After what seemed like an eternity to arrange transport to Memorial Herman in Houston, Tanner finally made it Tuesday afternoon and was immediately taken into surgery. Tanner spent roughly 6 hours in an exploratory surgery to learn that his Trachea, Vocal Cords and Larynx had been crushed causing his body to fill up with air as he was breathing in. The Dr's placed a trach, drain tubes and feeding tubes into Tanner and he was placed into a medically induced coma to help his body heal the best it could on its own, while the Dr's figured out the steps going forward.
On Thursday the Dr decided to place a steel plate in Tanner's throat to help stabilize the organs that were damaged and were hopeful that he would be home by Sunday at the latest. Shortly after being out of surgery, Tanner's face began to swell as if a balloon were being blown up inside his head. He was immediately rushed back into surgery and the Dr found that his airway was completely obstructed as his trachea was not able to sustain due to the membranes of the tissue being damaged. The trach was then put back into place and Tanner will remain in a medically induced coma for approximately another week.
What are we asking: As one might imagine this accident was not expected, and Tanner's mom has been out of work all week to be there for her son. Additionally, the cost going forward are not in the budget and Tanner's recovery will have him out of work for a while as he heals. If you feel led of the Lord, both Tanner and Melissa would be blessed by your generosity.
