Hello. My name is Tanner and I am16 yrs old and an aspiring dancer. I have been dancing for 10 years and have dreams of dancing professionally in NYC. I attend every convention and competition I possibly can, not for the awards and trophies(though it is nice to be recognized), but for the exposure this gives to me in the dancing world. I have come to realize that in the dance world, exposure is what its all about. At each one of these conventions and competitions, I make it a point to introduce myself to each and every judge and teacher and thank them for their time and effort they put into their profession. I have also come to realize that these competitions and conventions don't come free. Which brings me to my GoFundMe page.
With only 2, very short years, left before I will go off to college to pursue my dream of dance, I have been presented the opportunity to attend a 2 week Intensive at Pace University in New York City in July of this year. Pace University is one of the top schools specializing in the dance industry. In order to attend this Intensive, you must audition for enrollment with less than 100 dancers being accepted. This past weekend, I was awarded the Triple Threat scholarship from NYCDA. NYCDA is based in NYC, and attracts nothing but the best dancers nationwide. The instructors at this convention, collectively, voted for one dancer to receive a scholarship to this 2 week Intensive at Pace University. This scholarship carries no monetary stipend, but the dancer receiving it bypasses the audition part of the acceptance process. The cost of this 2 week Intensive is $3600, not including travel exp.
NYCDA 2 week Summer Intensive
Along with this opportunity to attend Pace University for 2 weeks this year, I am looking to attend the NYCDA Nationals located in NYC this summer. This Nationals attracts not only the best dancers nationwide, but also the best choreographers from around the nation. NYCDA is best known for their collaboration with the top dance colleges around the nation!! Through the NYCDA foundation, over 200 dancers have been awarded $12.5 MILLION in college scholarships! With me getting VERY close to the college years, how can I NOT grab this opportunity? As I stated before, it's all about EXPOSURE. During this Nationals event, the top dance colleges, Point Park U, Marymount, Pace U, Chapman U, and many others hold college fairs on-site. Dancers graduating from these Universities have been featured in Hollywood movies, Broadway productions, music videos, Stage shows. These 'meet and greets' can make dreams come true!
Any donation I recieved would be so appreciated. I know God has a plan for me, and any opportunity I receive is just one step closer to making my dreams come true. I know that ONE DAY, my name will be in lights, be it on Broadway, or on a stage in LA, or on the big screen in Hollywood.
