Tanya Mejia funeral expenses

Hello my name is Amelia. My brother Paul, recently lost his wife, Tanya, (47 yrs old). Everything happened so quickly, we are still trying to process. On April 16th, Paul took Tanya to the ER because she was having a difficult time walking. She was losing feeling from her waist down. She was admitted to Aurora Hospital to run tests. Two days later, April 18th, the doctors discovered an abscess on her lower spine. She was transported to Froedtert Hopital in Wauwatosa, that evening. The infection from her abscess was spreading quickly, leaving her paralyzed. The doctors were trying to save the use of her hands, therefore fused two discs in her vertebrae using a metal rod to release pressure. On April 24th she was moved to ICU, the infection was spreading to her brain. Three days later, April 27th, after more extensive testing the doctors noticed her kidneys were not functioning as they should and began dialysis. The road was going to be long for Tanya and her family, but she did not give up hope. More tests, including biopsies & a spinal tap were done to find answers of her symptoms. The family was given devastating news on May 3rd, she was diagnosed w stage 4 Lymphoma cancer. Dr’s started her on radiation to keep it from growing and also continued her dialysis to prolong her life. Things were not the same for Tanya. She went from being independent to losing the ability to walk and feed herself. Though she was facing many challenges, she wanted to go home to be with her family. She had a positive outlook and knew she’d get better once she she was in her own bed. Tanya went home on hospice, May 17th. She was so happy to be home with her husband, 3 kids, the youngest only 8 yrs old and two grandkids. On May 18th, she woke up with a high fever that could not be controlled. The infection was too much for her body to fight. Tanya begged god to help her feel better. On May 19th, she passed away surrounded by her loving family. It was very unexpected, they were not prepared for her to take this turn so quickly. Occasionally, we hear stories when cancer suddenly takes a life. We don’t ever think it will happen to us or to someone we love. Hug your loved ones, tomorrow is not promised.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated to help with the funeral expenses.
