Tara Bahna-James Cancer Treatment

Our beloved friend and sister Tara Bahna-James needs our help. Tara, a cherished member of New York’s theater community, mother, lifelong animal advocate and mentor to many, many children, has stage 4 colon cancer. The chemotherapy offered is palliative and Tara has decided after extensive and thoughtful research to go to a clinic in Germany for experimental treatment to shrink her tumors, lessen her pain and increase her life expectancy, in particular to increase her time with her adored teenage son Elijah. To this end, we are raising $80,000 so Tara can receive treatment at the clinic and not worry about working during this time.

For those of you who don’t know Tara, she is an incredible, magical, mystical artist and human being. She has a deep connection with animals, and after the passing of her dogs Charlie and Betty, became a caretaker and pet sitter to many other very special animals. By profession, Tara is a lyricist, a playwright, an actor, an astrologer and a teacher. She is also brilliant, with a BA from Yale and MFA from NYU, she has tutored hundreds of children helping them get into the colleges of their dreams. Born and raised in NYC, Tara grew up on the Lower East Side, with her mother Carol, an English teacher. A graduate of La Guardia high school, Tara is a powerful vocalist. As a lyricist-librettist, she has written eight musicals. This is just a small number of her many accomplishments, but it is Tara’s beautiful, radiant spirit and generous, loving heart that makes all of us want to help her now, as she has helped everyone who had the great, good fortune to have her in our lives.
