Black Madonna concerts & 40th anniversary
Hello dear friends and fans around the world:
Many of you know me as a percussionist, singer, healer and author. I am also the artistic director/co-founder of I Giullari Di Piazza (the Players of the Square), the only Italian Folk Music, Theatre & Dance company in the United States, Artists in Residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City - a non-profit organization now celebrating our 40th anniversary.
We are planning a special fund raiser during the Holidays to celebrate this milestone, on December 22 , honoring award-winning actress Marisa Tomei .
The event will be held at CAPRI RESTAURANT, at 5:30pm – 145 Mulberry Street (Little Italy), New York City.

This is such a special occasion! I co-founded the company I Giullari di Piazza in the beginning of 1980, and we began our artistic career at New York University then became artistin residence at the Catehdral of St John the Divine in 1991 .
On December 22 we will present a special performance of our popular show "TARANTATA" - featuring excerpts from the production SPIDER DANCE, South Italian Tarantella trance dances, ritual drumming and healing chants for the Black Madonna, and I Giullari’s favorite up beat repertoire!
The funds from the benefit will also be used for our end of the year special concerts and presentations of my book and CD “HEALING JOURNEYS WITH BLACK MADONNA” December 28 at 8:00pm and 29 at 3:00pm at Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave. 
The concert is a musical journey through the sacred sites of the Black Madonna in Southern Italy, Spain, and France, written, choreographed and directed by Alessandra Belloni, music composed and arranged together with Steve Gorn and Joe Deninzon also featuring guest artists from Italy, including Gianni de Gennaro from Puglia, and performed by a cast of 10 artists including musicians, singers, dancers and actors. The music is featured also on the CD included with the book published by Bear & Company.
WHY WE NEED FUNDING:
WE NEED ALL THE SUPPORT FROM OUR FANS AND FRIENDS since we lost vital grants. The funding that we have requested from the City of New York was not approved, and it is really devastating for us at this point, as we can not finish our Winter Season without this crucial funding.
Your contribution will enable us to produce and effectively market and promote the performances of all our productions, pay adequate artists fees and technical crew, and fees for administration costs.
I Giullari di Piazza is a non-profit organization under the 501-c-3 code and all donations are tax deductible.
THE IMPACT OF THE CONCERT HEALING JOURNEYS WITH THE BLACK
MADONNA:
As a healer and musician, I have dedicated my life to bringing the power of this
spiritual rhythm to women around the world. To continue my work healing women from abuse and educating audiences about these sacred traditions, I need my friends’ support.
The Black Madonna represents the Earth Mother as a living being. Like the earth’s womb, women’s wombs have often been broken. I strongly believe that in this time of turmoil and paradigm shifts, there is a great need for a compelling cocnert and Book (followed by a film next year!) with a strong message about the Black Madonna. We live in a dangerous time where both women and men need to connect the true knowledge and healing aspect of the Divine Feminine.
The repertoire includes music from different regions of Southern Italy:
Calabria, chant for the Black Madonna of Seminara, our Lady of the Poor
From Irpinia : chant and prayer to Our Lady of freedom ,La Madonna della Libera (Moiano Benevento) ,
From Sicily : tarantella Madonna de li grazi (Sicily) Our Lady of grace
Campania : Chant to the Madonna delle Galline , and prayer to the Madonna of Montevergine, healing chant to the Sun
From the Livre Vermeilles: medieval chants and prayers to the Black Madonna of Montserrat, Incoronata di Foggia, (Puglia).
OUR GOAL
Our goal is to raise at least $5,000 by December 31st. We sincerely hope that you will attend the Holiday Benefit on December 22 and that you will be able to support our artistic programs.
Your tax-deductible contribution will help pay adequate fees to an amazing cast of hardworking and devoted artists, publicity, rehearsal studio rental, sound technician and lighting engineer. If you need a tax deduction before the need of the year this is a good cause!
