Thank you for taking the time to read about Leah and her journey.
Leah Carmody daughter of Mike (Tarbert, Co Kerry) and Aileen nee Mc Shane (Strabane, Co Tyrone) who reside in New York was hospitalised after taking what appeared to be a harmless tumble at school.
Following routine testing it was discovered that Leah who is 5 years old had a brain tumour. This required a shunt in her skull to relieve the pressure. She underwent two biopsies but suffered a stroke, affecting her memory and leaving her partially paralyzed.
She faces at least a year of chemotherapy and requires extensive physical and cognitive therapy. Medical expenses for Leah's ongoing treatment will exceed $2 million.
