Tarun Fighting Deportation

Hello everyone, my name is Cassandra and my dear friend Tarun Godara, is facing a devastating situation currently. After being advised he needed to leave Canada by border services back in July of 2023, he was given the option to apply for a Pre Removal Risk Assessment. This was a process that the border service officers would use to determine if in removing Tarun from Canada, he would truly have a risk posed to his safety and quality of life. During the time in which the decision was under review on the Pre Risk Removal Assessment, a hold was put on his removal order.

During this time he was able to work until he was notified other wise. On February 13th, 2024 the decision had been made. Tarun had to go to Sault Ste Marie, to meet with border services again where they advised him the decision, was not in his favour. He was once again being advised that they were placing a removal order on him. They confiscated his passport and advised him that they would be booking his flight back to India.

Tarun is a member of the LGBTQ community, and as a gay man, his quality of life would be greatly jeopardized should he be required to return to India. He has found chosen family in Canada, myself included as well as many friends and has contributed to the community in countless ways. I can’t imagine my life without him.

As a result, his only option is now to fight this decision with the federal court. As you can imagine, this process will be costly and he is now legally unable to work to support himself, and his dog, Tyson, let alone, pay the lawyer fees.
