Tarun Giridhar Eagle Scout Project at Vedic Center
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Tarun Giridhar. I am a rising senior at Riverside High School and a Life Scout at Troop 266 in Greenville, SC. I am working on my Eagle Scout Service Project at the Vedic Center of Greenville and would like to request your help in raising funds for the project.
The Vedic Center is a Hindu Temple in Greenville, South Carolina. It is open to visitors every day for prayers and religious festivals. They celebrate festivals throughout the year, and it is commonly visited by people from the Upstate. Most people visit with their families and have younger children.
The Center recently installed a playground, where the children can play and the parents can monitor their kids and socialize with other families. However, there is no place for parents and grandparents to sit down, and the uneven ground becomes uncomfortable to stand on after some time. I frequently visit the Vedic Center and have seen parents and grandparents standing around to monitor their kids. On certain occasions, I have seen parents tell kids that they have to come back inside because the parents can’t supervise them for much longer.
These scenarios led me to think that I should do something to help the parents and grandparents. By doing my Eagle Project here, I hope that I can make a real difference in the community.
My project will provide an area for people to sit comfortably and monitor their children or socialize outside the playground in the Vedic Center. I plan to build three benches allowing for ample space for people to sit, on an even pea gravel surface. There will be stepping stones, allowing people of all ages to access the benches. Furthermore, I will install a sunshade to keep the area cool on hot, summer days.
Based on my planning so far, the estimated cost for the project is around $1750. Any extra funds collected will be donated to the Vedic Center.
Please consider donating to help me complete this endeavor.
Thank you very much for your support,
Tarun Giridhar
