You can give $10 to enable me to attend summer classes. My goal is $850.

"We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life; when all we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about." --Charles Kinglsey

I have always dreamed that I could make the world a more beautiful place through art. Even as a young girl I immersed myself in art history and was fascinated with studying some of the greatest achievements man has made through masterpieces.

I knew it would require hard work to develop my artistic talent and to refine it into a profession, but being the daughter of multi-generational farmers, pioneers, and pilgrims I'm not afraid of hard work.  I'm continually working to improve my talent, and this summer I am excited to train with professional artists at the Center for Academic Study and Naturalist Painting  in Springville, Utah.

"While the power of art can be magical, there is nothing magical in its creation. Great works of art are not divined or conjured with some incomprehensible mystical power. Rather, for centuries, artists have relied upon concrete methods and techniques for artistic execution." --Juliette Aristides.

Classical training imparts the technical, and even scientific, knowledge that is required to achieve mastery in art.  Through disciplined training and through studying classical master works, my heart beats faster each time I unlock the secrets of why master artists saw what it saw, why their brain thought what it thought, and why their hand responded in the way it did under such stimuli.

To be an artist is to be immersed in the hidden world that only a few get to see. Every time you come to it again you always learn something-- the process is a lifelong teacher.  I am so grateful for the opportunity to study with master artists this summer and get that rare glimpse into their world.

Estimated costs for my summer training are $7,220.00, which include housing, tuition at the Center for Academic Study, childcare, and travel.  I have raised $6,370.00 over the past year to cover these costs and I am now asking you to donate the remaining $850.00 so that I can advance my career.

I would love to share my work with you.  Over the summer I will be posting pieces that I've completed during my training onto my website.  These pieces will be available to those who donate to my project.  Please visit www.tarynblackburn.com/classicaltraining  to view the available artworks and sketches.
