Tasha's Breast Care and Mastectomy Fund
Donation protected
In late 2018, I found a small lump in my left breast. It's a scary moment for any woman after years of having it hammered into you that lumps in your breast are very bad and need to be taken care of immediately.
This lump turned into two lumps. Then things got painful. Now I'm in pain nearly every day.
Luckily, I have a good doctor who has helped me manage all this. After two (expensive) mammograms and two (even more expensive) needle core biopsies, I've finally been cleared to have my masses surgically removed! I'll be getting a partial mastectomy and my tumors sent for testing so see why they're growing so rapidly. The oncologist doesn't think they're cancerous, but is concerned they might be phyllodes tumors - a type of tumor that continuously and rapidly grows and can get massive. One of my tumors has over double in size in 7 months and is now visible to the naked eye.
While I'm very excited to finally be rid of these dumb things and I have a decent insurance, the bill is still pretty steep for me. And it comes when I'm still trying to pay off the last biopsy I had. Because of my insurance, I'll only owe $1514.06, as that'll hit my out of pocket limit for the year. I can be given the okay with a down payment, which I can cover on my own. I'll have money automatically drawn out of my account every month until the balance is paid.
I'm reaching out to friends, family, and kind strangers for any help before my surgery on October 3rd. The more I can pay upfront, the less burden it'll be in the long run. If I can pay the full amount, all my aftercare and follow up stuff is completely free for the rest of year and that would be a huge burden off my shoulders!
The day after my second biopsy, with the first biopsy scar visible. My skin hates the dressings they use to waterproof the wound.
