Taste of T-Town Cookbook
Tax deductible
Did you know that ONE in SIX Alabamians struggles with hunger on a daily basis? Now imagine being in school, sitting in your classroom with an empty belly, and being told to focus. Sounds impossible, right? This is the unfortunate reality for so many children, but you can do something to help.
Throughout this semester at UA, we’ve worked hard to create this virtual cookbook, "Taste of T-Town," to benefit Alabama Credit Union's nonprofit Secret Meals for Hungry Children. Anyone who donates at least $10 at the link provided will be sent a copy. All proceeds go toward Secret Meals' efforts to feed kids in Alabama.
TO RECEIVE YOUR COOKBOOK, make sure to send an email to emterrell AT crimson.ua.edu confirming that you have donated at least $10.
Many children rely on the breakfasts and lunches they receive at school five days a week, but they are left hungry on weekends. Secret Meals fills this nutritional gap by providing food packs every Friday to children who have been anonymously identified as food-insecure by trained school officials. It only takes FOUR DOLLARS to feed a kid for the entire weekend!
We gathered delicious family recipes from locals around Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to make this cookbook, and we really hope you'll consider donating. If you don't have the funds to donate, please share this with your friends! Many people don't realize how serious of a problem food insecurity is in the United States, or that they can do something concrete to help those who face it.
