Tater's Dental Surgery

Donation protected
Hi there! Allow me to introduce Tater, my sweet, googly-eyed rescue girl. I adopted Tater in July 2021 and at her vet check-up the day after her adoption, learned that she was living with a grade 6 heart murmur. Fast forward four months to the cardiologist's first available appointment and her grade 6 murmur now came with a complicated case of pulmonic stenosis. Complicated by her heart being as weird as she is and having extra membranes further restricting the blood flow out of her heart. She's been on meds and living symptom free for 2 years now.

She lives a normal life of wrestling and cuddling with her BFF -- my other dog, Tali -- and her main goal in life is to have as much of her body touching as much of my body as possible at all times. I should have named her Constant Contact. She does live with a few restrictions though, including not being able to undergo regular dental cleaning or surgeries because the risk of anesthesia is too great. The dental cleanings is not a problem though, as Tater loves having her pearly whites brushed twice a day with her chicken flavored toothpaste. But surgeries? That's where we've run into a problem.

Due to spending the first year of her life as a stray, wandering Flint, MI, her teeth have some cracks and chips. One of her molars has been cracked since before her adoption and under veterinary care, it's been left as-is after ensuring she was pain free.

During one of her AM tooth brushing sessions last week, the chip came loose and Tater now has to have the tooth removed or risk infection, abscess, or heart complications due to bacteria. So how does a dog who can't have surgery have surgery? Very expensively, under the care of a veterinary dental specialist and a veterinary anesthesiologist.

I've set up this GoFundMe for Tater because I was laid off by my job last month after 5 years and things are pretty bleak in the games industry right now, so what I'd normally be able to afford on my own as routine Tater care, I now need some help with.

All funds will go to pre-op blood work and exams, surgery costs, and post-op care. Any help in keeping my brindle bundle of joy happy and healthy are greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
