Donation protected
Currently the city of Maiduguri, Nigeria is experiencing the worst flooding in 30 years. It is an unprecedented incident that has left 70% of the city submerged and consequently has displaced the residents of the city. The situation is expected to get worse. This Emergency fund will assist Tatsuniya Artist Collective members, their families and extended networks who live in Maiduguri to get back on their feet, get access to food, water, shelter and to get to safe areas.
Tatsuniya Artist Collective is a registered arts organisation based in Maiduguri Nigeria consisting of the collaborators of the Tatsuniya series. The collective was founded through the visual storytelling workshops visual artist Rahima Gambo had with student collaborators in the Tatsuniya multimedia series (2017 - 2019). The collective is made up of 23 members.
The collective is a gathering space where members can initiate creative projects, discuss issues, find support, resources and be sustained in the long-run by the organisation.
The collective is also place where members can define the parameters of long term collaboration and begin to work through ideas of agency, authorship, representation, art making, ethics through a model that is still being defined and evolving.
