Tatties Tae Tables
There is a massive need to provide food for people all over Scotland who have been really hard hit by the pandemic.
This need is increasing fast and the grassroots charities which have emerged to support this need are struggling to meet the demand.
We are from the farming community in East Central Scotland where there is currently a massive stockpile of produce, especially potatoes. It seems crazy to us that so many good tatties are going for cattle feed - when families are going hungry.
We are connecting this supply of excess produce with the need for food. We will use your donations to prepare and transport pledged farm produce to charities who are doing such great work to alleviate the impact of poverty. These charitable organisations include Empty Kitchens, Edinburgh Community Food and others who are doing phenomenal work and are seeing demand increase dramatically each week.
Costs we will incur will generally be for fuel and expenses for collection, delivery and packaging. So far we have been lucky enough to receive enough bags to cover our first 15 tonnes of potatoes which have been gifted by local producers. Going forward we may have to use haulage companies if the amount of produce becomes difficult to deliver by ourselves.
This project is moving really fast because charities are desperate for this. We need your donations right now to get this up and running and to make most use of the surplus that exists now but won't last past late Spring.
