Praying For Tatum Teague
Donation protected
On October 6, 2015, Tatum was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, also known as ALL. Her 28-day induction phase of chemotherapy began with Tatum as an in-patient since she also developed osteomyelitis (inflammation of bone caused by infection) in her right leg below the knee and could not walk. Physical Therapy monitored her closely and with the help of a walker she was on her feet again within a week.
Unfortunately the good news was short-lived and she was diagnosed with Typhlitis (inflammation of the large intestine, also associated with infection) on October 24, 2015. The doctors put her on a strict diet of no food or drink to help alleviate her tummy pains and paused her 28-day induction period on day 20. In the early morning hours of October 31st, Tatum was rushed from the oncology floor to the ICU due to an increased heart rate and substantial drop in her blood pressure. She was immediately put on a ventilator and sedated. Once stabilized, she was taken down to the operating room for emergency surgery to remove her colon. As if this was not enough, once back from the OR in ICU she had to have tubes inserted into each lung in order to drain excess fluid and was put on dialysis.
As of November 10, 2015, Tatum is 10 days post-op and making strides in the right direction. She is still on the ventilator and dialysis and will not be able to be transferred back down to the oncology floor until weaned off of both. Although hopeful it will be sooner than later, the doctors are not able to provide a timeframe on when that will be. Time will allow for healing, which she will need plenty of before starting her 2.5-year chemotherapy treatment maintenance program for ALL.
At only 4 years old, Tatum has touched the lives of so many. She's a strong and amazing little girl! Our goal is to help support the Teague family during this difficult time. All funds raised will go toward Tatum's medical and recovery expenses. Please continue to keep this wonderful family in your prayers.
