In memory of Tavy (Octavian) Cottle
About 18 months ago I decided to, and committed to, walk up Mount Kilimanjaro as a personal challenge. It is the highest mountain in the continent of Africa. I was not intending to raise any money for charity and my trip is self funded.
12 months ago I received some incredibly sad news: My good friend, Max, had lost his 15 year old son, Tavy. Tavy died very suddenly and unexpectedly at home of a cardiac arrest.
I think anyone can appreciate how utterly devastating this event was for Max, his wife Sarah and their 3 children.
So I have now decided to raise funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). CRY helps fund screening, research and support for those affected by young person sudden cardiac arrest. Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.
I intend to think of Tavy, Max, Sarah and their 3 children as I undertake my endeavour in early February 2025. Any pain and suffering I endure will be temporary and will be nothing compared to what they are all going through. I want them to know that I care about what has happened and how they are doing.
Please could you consider making a donation to the charity CRY.
If you do, this will really boost me up on my walk when things get tough, knowing that I am not just doing it as my personal challenge but to raise funds to help others ie those people supported by the CRY charity.
More information about Cardiac Risk in the Young: Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) was established in 1995 to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths (YSCD, SADS) through awareness, screening and research; and to support affected families. CRY funds fast-track services at the CRY Centre for Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions and Sports Cardiology and the CRY Centre for Cardiac Pathology.
Thank you so much. Any donation would be superb, no matter how small.
( Please ignore the automated suggestion of £50. This is the silly GoFundMe platform doing this , not me, just give how much you want to, of course)
