Taya’s fight against cancer

Donation protected
Dear Naomi and Dalton,
You’re the strongest family I know. The challenges that you have had to face in the last couple years are far more than most will face in a lifetime. Your love and faith are above anything I have ever witnessed and it has trickled down into Taya. She is fierce and beautiful and courageous and stronger than I’ll ever be. You focus on loving that little girl and showing her how tough she is. We have got the financial side for you. I love you guys so much! #TeamTaya #Effcancer #sarcomaawareness

Below are words from Naomi about Taya’s upcoming procedures. She undergoes surgery this coming Tuesday 8/22/23. Let’s help them be able to focus on their baby girl and not the financial burden this is also causing. Anything helps. Especially prayers!

So there's alot on my mind and now that we have all the information there is some things I want to share with you all..

Taya had been complaining about left arm pain. After reaching out to her oncologist it was decided that we should probably move the scans up and we went down on August 4th. The MRI revealed a mass in the same location as the last one. We were devastated. The doctor then called and let us know he wanted her down there that next Monday the 7th. So, on the 7th we went down to get the PET scan to determine next steps. PET scan confirmed our worst fears. REOCCURING DISEASE.

We met with her surgeon in Columbus on the 11th. This was the same surgeon who resected the first tumor. After talking with him we find it in Taya's best interest to complete remove a nerve root that comes off of her spinal cord. That same nerve root was the one we had done 37 rounds of radiation to during Taya's first journey. Unfortunately, we have no choice now. IT NEEDS TO COME OUT. In return, Taya will Unfortunately lose her left hand function completely. She will still be able to move her arm on the left side but the hand will remain unusable. She will not have feeling. And Taya will also have to wear a neck brace for the first 3 months after surgery. This surgery will be far more invasive than the first and structural bone will be altered. The brace will hopefully allow her body to heal and we can then at 3 months take it off. However, if the healing does not take place we will then have to go back to surgery and they will have to fuse a few vertebrae together. In turn Taya will lose range of motion. She adapted well the first time. I KNOW MY GIRL WILL AGAIN.

We are devastated to say the least. Taya had her last CHEMO treatment on January of 2022. Here we are August of 2023 and the cancer is back. I'll never understand why she has to go through this. I'll never understand why our family has to go through this. I wish I could be a normal family and do normal family things. But the cards we are dealt say otherwise.

So
Here we go again. Attempting to beat CANCER AGAIN.

Our family needs all the love, support, patience, and above all PRAYERS to get thru this again.

My girl is the STRONGEST girl I will ever know.
She's kind, funny, ABSOLUTELY GOOFY, smart, and above all the best spirit to be around.
