Volunteer Firefighter Lost All . Cameron Peak Fire
This fundraiser is for my brother, Taylor. He volunteers with Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department in Northern Colorado and on Wednesday October 14th, his home of nine years burned to the ground in the Cameron Peak Fire. While he was fighting to save other’s homes, the fire was consuming his entire property.
Taylor not only lived in these mountains but also worked in the area building log homes. Because he had large machinery and know-how, Taylor could always be found helping his neighbors with land-work and construction projects. He’s a well-loved and respected member of his small mountain community.
There is no easy way to convey the extent of the destruction. His house burned, his shop burned, his sheds, his heavy equipment and vehicles burned. His trees and plants burned. Every single thing he had, everything he spent the past nine years building, on his piece of land burned, to the ground, to ashes.
There is nothing left.
The efforts put forward by volunteer firefighters like him; those who choose to actively fight to save other’s homes while their own may burn, are heroes. Taylor would never ask for help himself, he’d just find a way, like he always does. While my brother is one of the hardest-working, creative and selfless people I know, even heroes need a hand sometimes. That’s why I started this campaign. Please consider donating to help Taylor start over and rebuild his life, no amount is too small. If you are not in the position to donate at this time please consider sharing his story on social media.
The money from this fundraiser will immediately help him replace the things he needs to start moving forward; rent for an apartment, furnishings, daily living expenses, and a vehicle. It will be used in the long term to replace small equipment and tools and to fund the clean-up effort. Most importantly, we hope it can give him a little peace of mind while he rebuilds his life.
Thank you for helping him ❤️
