Help Erika Laganson Fight Leukemia

The Backstory

Hi, I am Bettina, and I am starting a fundraiser for my niece Erika who was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). For those who are not familiar with AML, this is a fast growing type of cancer. She is currently hospitalized in the Philippines and needs to get treated with initial chemotherapy, but she does not have enough funds to do so. Erika's father, who is my brother, recently passed away eight months ago. Erika's mother is now the sole provider of their family and they would greatly appreciate any kind of financial support.

Erika still has a long way to go, but your help can make a huge difference in their journey. Given that Erika's father recently passed away, we are hoping not to lose another loved one so soon, especially considering she is only 21 years old. She was set to graduate college next year, but she has to set her school aside for now to fight against AML.

The Costs

Erika's hospital bills are piling up, and her mom does not have a job due to COVID. In addition to the initial chemotherapy, she still needs to undergo a series of chemo and blood transfusions. On top of this, she has medicine and additional hospital bills and everyday needs to pay for. Before Erika can begin her initial chemotherapy, she must first pay off her current hospital bills which include blood and plasma transfusions, medicine, blood work, and emergency visit (ER) fees. The sooner we get the funding, the sooner Erika can begin her treatment. Because this cancer is fast growing, it is best for her to begin treatment immediately.
