Archery Bench - John Dale Henriksen

Donation protected
John Dale Henriksen spent countless hours at the Normandale Archery Range in Bloomington, MN.  In lieu of flowers or other donations, his family has worked with the City of Bloomington to provide a permanent bench seating area for future Archers that use this great facility.  It will be a concrete base, a simple bench with a small Memorial Plaque.

The cost is exactly $1,000 for this.  Any addition amounts that might be raised will go directly to target maintenance or other maintenance of the archery range.

The photo is John with his four beloved grandchildren and his former wife, all mentioned in his obit.

Below is the obituary.

Funeral notice: Thursday, September 3, 2015

John Dale Henriksen, age 78, born March 19, 1937, passed in the early morning of Saturday, August 29, 2015 in Clear Lake, Minnesota.

Known as John to some, and Dale to others, he was by trade an auto body man until he sold the business that was known as Henriksen and Haugen located, in Minneapolis on Chicago Avenue South.

John graduated from St. Albert the Great School, Minneapolis and from South High School, Minneapolis in 1955.

In his heart and soul he was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed nothing more than a good day fishing or hunting and could talk to you all day about it. He was a talented and experienced bow hunter and target shooter who participated in the 1972 (first) Olympic Trials for archery. For years, you would see him at the southwest corner of Lake Nokomis, at the old archery targets. He spent most of that time shooting from across the street because he was working 90 meters. People would stop in their cars to watch the crazy man shooting arrows up into the air. They then watched in amazement as he hit bullseye after bullseye. Years later, John spent countless hours target shooting and socializing at Marsh Lake Archery Range in Bloomington.

He spent many years photographing some of the most beautiful sites in Minnesota and Wisconsin. He was a self-taught photographerwith a wonderful eye for nature.

John had previously lost his brother Paul in childhood. John lost his first son, Michael John, at childbirth and his parents John H. Henriksen and Bernadine Willette Henriksen many years later.

John is survived by his children, and their spouses: Cathy Ware (David Hardyman Ware), Mary LaRose (Steve LaRose), Teresa Klasen (Randy Klasen), Michael A. Henriksen, Tina Keller (Jonathan Keller) and by his adored grandchildren: Cale Anderson, Carly Anderson Jillian Klasen and Olivia Keller.

John is also survived by his siblings;Jeanne (Martin) Henriksen, Doug (Correen) Henriksen , Alice Henriksen (Dan Guertin).

Additionally, John is survived by his former wife and the mother of his children, Marguerite “Freddie” Anderson and her husband Harold “Andy” Anderson. We, the children and grandchildren were lucky to have parents, and grandparents, including Andy, who respected each other up until the end. Freddie and Andy took John into their own home this year and cared for him until his passing. Everyone please say a special prayer for our mother and Andy for their kindness and selflessness in the caregiving of our dad. Visitation Thursday 5-8 pm at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 9947 Lyndale Ave So. Private Interment Friday 11:00 am at Resurrection Cemetery.
