Help 4 Harry
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Cheryl and I am the mother of Harry Houghton aged 11, we are a local family from Godmanchester.
Harry was born a healthy baby with no complications, but at the age of 4 he started to show signs of vision loss and is now blind.
After many appointments with professionals , we were referred to great ormond street hospital where he was diagnosed with cln3 juvenile batten disease in December 2019.
cln3 is a nurodegenerative disease and over time will affect his mobility, speech and will suffer with dementia, seizures and become wheelchair bound. He will always have his long - term memory but will lose his short term.
This shattered our lives to be told there is NO CURE and is severely life limiting.
Harry loves spending time outside, which helps with his mobility, stimulation and memory but unfortunately, our garden is not a safe place for Harry’s needs.
The ground is concrete and very uneven and we do not have any boundary fencing, there are lots of trip hazards. We would love to give Harry the garden he deserves to enjoy with his family and friends in a safe environment.
We would need to level out the garden, give him a lawn or artificial grass, a swing, sensory area and a water feature with a relaxing seating area.
we are holding a family fun day at the comrades club Godmanchester on the 22nd June to raise funds for this project.
we hope to raise enough for the project and funds for the bdfa who support us daily and many other families in our situation.
thank you for taking for taking time to read this. If you would like to donate or give anything or help with prizes this would be much appreciated.
kind Regards
Cheryl Houghton
