8 weeks ago my mom received life altering news. Being a nurse herself for over 35 years at Soldiers  Memorial Hospital, during the Covid pandemic she  went to the hospital with stomach pain only to be diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She has worked hard her entire life to raise 4 children on her own and build a good life for herself. Until recently she was  still working part time  but was looking forward  to slowing down  to do the things she enjoys in life, like spending time with her grandkids, travelling and collecting antiques.  Those hopes have now been replaced with chemo treatments, bloodwork appointments and medical conference calls. Because she was working part time she has no paid sick leave. This money will help her with her loss of income, medical expenses and traveling back and  forth to treatments.
