Tea and a treat for Beat

Hi all, I hope that you are all well and staying sane whilst locked down.

I will dive straight into it...

I have wanted to run a marathon for a long time as I have always been into my fitness and love running. I have been given this amazing opportunity by Beat, the UK’s eating disorder charity. On October 3rd 2021 I will run the London Marathon to raise money and awareness for this serious mental illness that ruins and, too often, kills so many amazing and beautiful people with so much more to give. This charity and illness is one that is very close to my heart.

I have had a lot of fundraising ideas but most involve some easing of the current lockdown measures. To kick things off I had a brainwave that you all can do from the comfort of your home, ideally with a cup of tea. 

I would love you to join me in creating a tea towel celebrating the treats you reach for when having a brew. Are you a garibaldi gnasher, custard cream cruncher, jammie dodger dunker...? 

Everyone that wants to be involved should pledge £10 (or more if you want to donate more to Beat) and then email [email redacted].uk a quickly drawn image of your favourite tea treat with the name of the treat written above it and your name written under it. Please see example below. Everyone that takes part will receive the finished tea towel in the post once all of the submissions are in.

Please spend no longer than it takes to boil a full kettle to do this (3 mins). Don't worry about creating a masterpiece, the whole idea is inspired by the tea towels that many of you will have got at primary school.

Please follow these requirements as closely as possible:

- Can you please draw your image in pen and write your name under it (the bolder the better). Outlines are best, shading doesn’t translate especially well. Please draw on plain paper.

- Can you also draw your image within a square (approx 10cm x 10cm).

- Could you email the image to: [email redacted]

- Can your images be completed by Friday 26th February 2021.

I will contact you all to get postal addresses once the tea towels have been produced. The tea towels are made from eco friendly 100% white cotton.
