Hi! My name is Kelly and I'm fundraising for the storage unit cost for Black Girls Have Tea Parties Too, Black Boys wear Suits Too, Black Girls Swim Too, and Black Kids Plant too! These are all free youth development programs in NYC. We serve over 200 youth in NYC communities throughout the year with our services.
We don't have a physical space but we have a strong positive impact on the families and areas we live. The storage unit, located in Harlem, we obtained originally to store the teacups. Once we launched the boy's event we were forced to upgrade to more space for the chessboards, ties, stationary, checker game boards, canvasses, etc. We would end up needing this upgrade even more after launching our free swim 3-day camp Black Girls Swim Too, two years later!
The storage room keeps safe the 160+ porcelain tea cups & tableware, numerous teapots, dessert plates, utensils, water kettles, big brim hats, art supplies, nail supplies, beauty supplies, decor tier stands, serving platters, and arts & crafts and more. All of the gardening supplies, house plant resources, lesson plans, and soil for Black Kids Plant too are in storage until spring and summer every year. We care for two tree beds in our neighborhood for 4 years so having a space to store the gardening supplies is extremely important.
Outside of our four main programs and annual events, we orchestrate many community service development events. In addition, we are the directors of a free community fridge in Harlem at 151st street & Fredrick Douglass Blvd. Our services are needed and valued in Harlem and surrounding NYC neighborhoods.
These funds will be used to directly cover storage unit fees. We have a total cost of $175 monthly for our unit.
Last year we were able to introduce 3 new annual events and 18 new initiatives! We could not do any of this without our unit. ... (we can provide receipt proof)
