Help educate Nepali village kids

Donation protected
Hi Guys, Di and Duane here.....simply stated, we need your help to keep 4 Nepali village Kindergartens running.

They need just $1500 per kindy per year to keep a teacher and a classroom available for around 200 pre-schoolers.  Currently the kindy's have no toys or educational materials. The other $4K is for educational materials. Of course our 1st priority is to keep the Kindy’s open and with a carer so that's the 1st $6K. Then we can go shopping.

The kindy at Padampur village.

We want to keep the kindy’s open and give them some toys, books, construction, music, crayons etc all the little things that kids should have to start their journey.

Inside the kindy at Padampur . . . it's shelter at least.

We’re passionate about Education, it’s been our whole lives. These kindy kids in Nepal don't have education at the moment. We want to change their lives, with your help.

Whilst we were visiting Nepal in February this year (2017), we had the privilege of meeting some truly wonderful and inspirational local Nepalis making huge life changes to less fortunate families of Nepal.

Raj and Keshab Khanal are two locals in Chitwan, south Nepal and they have taken on the care and development of four villages that didn't even have water or a school. They have sunk wells for water and have built a Kindy and that's where the kids of the village and one of the parents, (acting as the teacher), gather daily.

What a line-up . . . but they were still wondering what we were doing there.

Enter us, we are Early Years Educators so we can create a curriculum and teach the parents to teach. And that's how we plan to change their future, the kids will learn and have opportunities to attend a government school and opportunities to support their family and community.

Below is a wish list of what we "need" as a bare minimum to supply the kindy's with educational materials. 100% of funds raised here will be used to purchase these materials, all our airfares, accommodation, any tax, postage and anything else is paid by Di and I.

We found a book . . .  instant crowd!

See what you can buy these guys with your kind donation. Pick any item and we will put your name on it  and update the list. When it comes to handing out the materials, we'll say "This is from your Aunty/Uncle Minni/Micky"  (your name substituted haha).

Cheers Auntie Minnie, "good on ya"! (in his best Aussie  accent).

We have a nice long back story for you below just so you know the details.

There are a lot of support projects going on in the world and heaps in Nepal but we want to re-assure you that we have not been conned, hoodwinked or pressured into taking on this task, we were there, we played with the kids, we saw the conditions, we cried and we vowed to help.

We're all just people trying to have a happy life.

We all love a good cuddle.

We wouldn't ask for your help if we could afford to pay for everything ourselves, so there it is, whatever you can spare, a coffee, a bag of chips or one hours pay, both Di and I and innumerable people down the track will be whole heartedly grateful, some for the rest of their lives. So thank you.

The project involves 4 small villages in the Chitwan area of south west Nepal. The villages of Padampur, Manahari, Jinglau and Sapreni.

Each centre averages around 40 kids per day. They have a parent as a volunteer teacher, a few over loved toys and no educational materials. All these guys are under 5 years old with no educational prospects in sight.

As you may know we have over 50 years experience between us in Early Childhood, so visiting one of the centres and seeing just what we could do with our experience and some funding, is exactly the right thing to do.

After spending some time with the children, we know first hand that an educational program and structure that supports and nurtures their strengths will make a huge difference not only to their own future opportunities but to the prospects for their families and their community.

We bought a few books while we were there, this one was upside down but he had the right action going.

What your donation will do for this project:

1. Provide basic toys such as: dolls, cars, blocks, teddies, balls etc
2. Educational materials such as: laptop (for songs, language pronunciation, lessons, counting, reading, music), books, puzzles, construction toys, literacy and numeracy mats etc
3. Provide one full time, 6 days per week carer.
4. Provide a daily nutritional meal for each child. (Often their only nutritional meal of the day)

This is Laxmi, from Padampur village, who does her best to care for between 20 and 43 under 5 year olds each day.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and we know that no matter what you donate it will be returned to you ten fold....

cheers guys
