Teaching is a work of Heart

It’s been a year since my dad, Dan Brown, made his first emergency visit to the hospital. After countless procedures and test it was determined that he had suffered from an aortic aneurism. This is a problem that is most common in older men. With my Dad being the younger age of 39 and athletically fit all his life the news was very unexpected. The enlargement of his aorta resulted in him having his first open heart surgery, on November 3rd, 2016, replacing the valve with a new mechanical one. Over the course of 2 months he was diagnosed, overwent the surgery and was on the road to recovery.

One year later it happened again. During one of his routine, bi weekly, visits he was admitted into the hospital due to an experience of chest pains that were achier than usual. Within 2 days of more test, he suffered a massive heart attack due to his artery being 90% blocked. After the doctors successfully resuscitated him, he would spend the next 2 weeks on an ECMO machine, also known as extracorporeal life support.

In the course of a year he has now spent a total of 4 months in the hospital. By his side has been my mom, Eva Brown. After being together for 15 years and a life changing experience they married on December 27, 2016 in the presence of their loved ones. She never left his side and has been his Angel. With them both spending all their time in the hospital, a source of income has been nonexistent. My Dad a teacher and Mom an esthetician have reached an end to their savings.

Today my dad is recovering from his second open heart surgery he overwent on November 7th, 2017. Hospital bills have piled up from both procedures but everyday bills are of immediate help. He will be going home soon but will not be able to return to work for at least another 2 months. My mom will return to work as soon as possible but they are in need of temporary assistance to them get through these last couple months.

Prayers are priceless but anything and everything is greatly appreciated.
