Teagan’s brain surgery

Donation protected
Friends, family, strangers,

My best friend of nearly 10 years, Teagan Bradley, is having brain surgery this month. She is 21 years old, a fully financially independent bank teller, and one of the most compassionate people I have ever met. She has 3 brain issues going on, but the procedure she is having is to correct her Chiari Malformation. This disorder, in simple terms, is when your brain bulges through an opening at the back of the skull, where it joins with the spinal canal. It puts pressure on parts of the brain and the spinal cord, and causes her severe symptoms. She has lived with this condition since birth, but there is no known cause for the malformation. This procedure could be life changing for her. She struggles daily with severe migraines, back pressure, and vision issues. There are days when she can’t stand to leave her bed because she is in so much pain.

Around Christmastime in 2021, Teagan started struggling with short blind spells- where she would not be able to see for a short period of time (ex. 15-30 seconds). She visited an eye doctor to discover that she was suffering from idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH). He sent her straight to the ER, where she underwent an emergency spinal tap to relieve the pressure, but was still struggling with symptoms for months. The MRI machine was backed up that day, or they would’ve discovered her other two problems much sooner. Her neurologist ordered an MRI and they discovered the Chiari, as well as an abnormality on her pituitary gland, which is the major endocrine gland. This controls many bodily functions through the hormones it produces.

If you know anything about me, you know that I have been attached at the hip with Teagan since we were 13 years old. We’ve grown up together, taught each other a lot, and now we’re navigating this crazy world together. It hurts my heart to watch her go through something so detrimental to her quality of life. She deserves the world.

If you chose to donate to Teagan’s cause, she would be immeasurably grateful for each cent. Besides the medical bills and cost of the surgery, these donations will help cover her bills while she is recovering post-op. (About 6–10 weeks). Any financial assistance at all is so much appreciated.
