Team - Abbas Karimi 2024 Paralympics
Donation protected
I am raising funds for Abbas Karimi so that he can continue his quest for greatness in the world of Paralympic Swimming.
Abbas Karimi, is an accomplished American Paralympic swimmer, with an incredible story of resilience and courage. He currently lives with his coach, Marty Hendrick, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Fifteen years ago, Abbas’ brother, Mohammadi Karimi, built a pool in their home country where Abbas had a healthy and safe place to pursue his passion. Five years later, then as a disabled 16-year-old, Abbas' homeland became too unsafe. Mohammadi saved Abbas’ life by assuring him passage into Turkey. This began an arduous 4-year journey for Abbas, which ended in the United States.
Abbas owes his life to his brother; without him, it’s hard to imagine where Abbas would be. Last week, Mohammadi reached the United States with his wife and 5 children. The family is enjoying safe freedom for the first time in years. However, this situation is tenuous and temporary
Abbas is faced with reallocating resources he had planned to use over the next year to attain his dream of representing the US in the 2024 Paralympic Games. Abbas lacks adequate resources to support his family.
We need to raise $25,000. We need to cover housing, living and travel expenses which will assure that Abbas can continue to train and make all of those who love him proud. Abbas is not receiving the funds directly; Team Abbas, including myself and Marty Hendrick will be managing these donations.
