Team Antoinette Climbs Aconcagua
A Chef, a Tech Salesman and an Old Soldier walk i̶n̶t̶o̶ ̶a̶ ̶b̶a̶r̶ up a freezing cold enormously large pile of rocks. While sounding like the start of a bad joke, this is exactly what Team Antoinette, with Boris Redfern, Tom Swarbrick and Edward Sanders, are venturing off to accomplish this January.
The pile of rocks in question is Mount. Aconcagua – the so-called “mountain of death”. We shall be climbing to a height of 6,962m, braving temperatures of -30C, winds of over 100km/h, and air pressure just 40% of what we are used to down here at more sensible altitudes.
While this will be the hardest and likely most physically challenging endeavour, we have all undertaken, we are looking to do our bit to support one of the hardest battles we as humans frequently have to fight. That battle is against cancer, more specifically, metastatic cancer. That battle is made all the harder by the uncertainty caused by treatment options and the resultant fear of metastatic cancer.
With one in two in their lifetime being diagnosed with cancer and the survival rate of metastatic cancer lower than 5%, Team Antoinette is funding ground-breaking research into metastatic breast cancer at the Imperial Centre for Translational and Experimental Medicine in London. Help us help them with phase 1 of this project to find some answers to metastatic cancer, and give hope to those who suffer.
Please help by contributing as generously as you are able to, our aim is to climb a fundraising peak as high as Aconcagua (£6,962). Let’s beat this bastard together – thank you for your support.
