End Stage Liver Disease, can progress over months, years, or decades. In Kam's case this happened over months. Often this is the result of cirrhosis of the liver, this is a condition where scar tissue replaces healthy liver tissue, until the liver can not function. The scar tissues occurs when the disease attacks the liver which in turn causes scarring called fibrosis. When the entire liver is scarred it shrinks down and gets hard, this severity of damage can not be undone, and this is what our dear friend Kam is going through.
This all started with a trip to the ER, because they thought he had the flu, little did we all know our worlds would be flipped upside down. He has been in and out of different hospitals for 7 months now. Sometimes they are short stays, and other times they are a month long. Kam has had over 30 blood transfusions, and has even had a central line put in. Along with MANY other medical procedures.
About a month and a half ago, he slipped into a coma, the days before he went into the coma, he became extremely confused, and lethargic. His blood also started to thin and he was chocking on his own saliva. This is when his care team wanted to give up on him, and his fiancée fought for him, to live, because she knew that's what he would want. They moved him to the ICU and to everyones surprise he woke up three days later! He told us that he died and Xander came to him, and told him to please wake up, that he NEEDED his Uncle Kam. Ever since this he has been ready to FIGHT for his life!! His entire care team couldn't believe he woke up. Slowly but surly he returned to his new "normal". When they were finally able to discharge him, he had been in the hospital for a month. We also found out at this time that his primary insurance company had dropped him, causing even more stress, on him and his family. His fight is long from over, he has since been in the ER and hospital twice since getting out of the hospital after his coma. He is still in some pain, and dealing with the after effects of being bed ridden for over a month. He still hasn't been able to get on the transplant list, so please say a prayer that he is able to get on the list soon!
Kam needs OUR HELP, as he is in not condition to be able to work. I would love it if all of his friends could help him either by donating or even saying a prayer for him, as he does have a long road ahead of him, as you can imagine his medical bills are adding up and he needs to focus on getting better instead of stressing about how he is going to pay all of his medical bills.

He is always finding the good in people, he is the BEST person that I know, and I know he has touched sooo many lives.
