Team Cortney- Fighting Metastatic Breast Cancer

Hello, My name is Chelsea and I’m fundraising on behalf of Cortney Fish.

Many of you know Cortney, a wife, a daughter, a sister, an aunt and a friend to so many.

In April while fighting off a case of strep throat she felt a hard lump in her chest. While it was concerning they assumed it would go away on its own and maybe it was just a swollen lymph node from fighting off infection. Fast forward to May 16th she had a follow up appointment with her primary care physician for a separate issue she was handling. She mentioned it to her Dr and was told that it was a little concerning and referred her to the breast center to have a mammogram done. That appointment showed a mass in the breast and a lymph node was in question as well. May 31st she went in for a biopsy on the 2 areas of concern. On June 1st it was confirmed the areas contained an Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. A referral was given to see an oncologist for further attention. They found out on June 6th that it was in fact a Stage 3 (HER2+) Metastatic Breast Cancer and it is aggressive. The doctors have a very well thought out plan for her and they are going to fight this with all they have! The chemotherapy will last for 3 months or so then either a lumpectomy or a mastectomy will follow as well as radiation. When those are completed and healed she will then join in another round of chemotherapy that will last around 9 months. With these surgeries and treatments there may be some costly medications and unforeseen expenses. I know Bryan and Cortney would have never asked for this kind of help on their own so I am asking for them. They know God is in control and his will be done! We know Cortney will fight and get through this and make it out cancer free! Please pray for her mind and body and for the doctors as they proceed with treatments.
