In October our dad, David Kendall, suffered a massive stroke. Currently, he is in an inpatient Rehabilitation Center working so hard to regain feeling and movement on the left side of his body.
Anyone who has ever of met Dave knows what a hard working, kind hearted, smart man he is. So proud to be a true East Nashville original. At the corner of Fatherland and 11th street, our dad’s shop, Kendall’s Appliances, was an East Nashville staple for over 30 years. It was voted #1 in The Nashville Scene many times. Dave worked hard in the shop and on service calls. Sometimes, he would take us with him. We would get to see how hard our dad worked, and how much he helped people. I can’t tell you how many times our dad would fix things for the cost of the part only. Learning to respect everyone and approach situations from a place of compassion is a lesson directly from our dad. Even when progress and higher rent pushed Dave out of East Nashville, he was still standing with the community at the very first Tomato Arts festival, serving our Mom’s banana pudding and helping bring in a new era. When his storefront closed, Dad switched to working from home to provide service calls and repair . Still charging to little, and even teaching people how to perform simple fixes on their own.
David Kendall has done so much good for others. He now needs help.
The house will need to be updated to accommodate for his new normal. There is much to be done. He will also need a lot of outpatient therapy.
The doctor bills are already mounting.
Anything you can do to help, even if it is just to leave a note sending support, it will mean the world to Dave and his family.
Thank you so much.
