Team Joe Wood - ON THE LINE!

Donation protected
Joe has Covid and is battling for his life in the hospital.

I have had the privilege of knowing  Coach Wood for many years.  The first time I met him was in 1992 as my high school football coach.  Years later I was able to coach alongside him at San Clemente.

If you played high school football in Orange County, Ca. in the last 40 years you probably played for, or against one of the best coaches in the game. Joe Wood coached at Capistrano Valley High School, Aliso Niguel High School and currently at San Clemente High School. He is loved by his players and fellow coaches.  He does things the right way because of his love for them. In 1996 he won Coach of the year after winning the CIF championship in only his 3rd year as head coach of the newly opened Aliso Niguel High School.  After winning the CIF championship, one of his former players said this, “One of his main goals, besides making us good football players, was to make us good young men for today’s society. We feel we reflect that on the field and in the classroom.”

He is not only a great coach but a beloved husband and father.  He is dedicated to his family and everything they do.  This makes it even more difficult on them as they desire more than anything to be there for him.  In his moment of need and with the COVID restrictions, his family is not able to be by his side.  Normally when we have a loved one in the hospital, we are able to be by their side giving them encouragement, love, and support. We can hold their hand, give them a kiss and telling them everything is going to be OK. But due to this pandemic, they are unable to do this. But we know Joe is not alone!  Joe has God by his side holding his hand, loving him and telling him it’s going to be OK.

During this time we are unaware of the financial costs that will incur due to his already long stay in the hospital and the amount of recovery he will need once he gets better. We ask that in his family's time of need that any contribution would help so that they may put their focus on being with their dad and husband and not have to worry about meals, bills, extended time off from work and the expense of their daughter having to travel back from Oregon University where she is a freshman.  All funds will go to Cheryl Wood as the beneficiary to be used for Joe's care.

We are having a prayer vigil every night until Joe gets better. We meet at 5:30pm in the Mission Viejo Mall parking lot just below the hospital.  POWER OF PRAYER IS REAL!

Joe was an Oregon Duck, but he will fight on!  Keep the faith and keep praying for Joe!
