Team Jolene!

On Thursday, February 9th, Jolene (Manthey) Emmer was taken to the emergency room in Kenosha and then transferred for more comprehensive care to Froedtert in Milwaukee. Just two weeks after her C-section, upon arriving at the ER via ambulance, she coded twice and medical staff were able to restart her heart. Jolene was fighting for her life. Her liver and kidneys were shutting down, her circulatory system was not functioning, her blood pressure was dangerously low, and a ventilator was breathing for her. Necrotic tissue was discovered in her extremities and was quickly spreading, so doctors performed a life-saving partial amputation of both her legs.
Through all this, Jolene was diagnosed with streptococcal toxic shock syndrome. Her diagnosis is extremely serious and after 50 nights in the ICU, Jolene was transferred to a temporary rehab hospital to strengthen her ability to breathe on her own.
Despite all those challenges, she has made incredible strides thus far! Through a variety of procedures and physical therapies, she will be entering Waukesha’s rehabilitation facility, where she will continue to strengthen and prepare for returning home.
Jolene is surrounded by love from her family, friends, and community, and we’d like to ensure that she, her husband Brad, and their four children - Landon (7), Bryson (4), Diem (2), and Hudson (3 months) - all have the financial support they need to weather this incredibly difficult situation. Funds will go directly to Brad and Jolene to be used at their discretion, and can be used for things such as medical expenses and equipment, transportation, meals, childcare, and other family needs. Brad and Jolene also just purchased a new home that is accessible and will be more well-equipped for her return home.
Thank you for considering a gift - it will make a world of difference!
