Help Kristy Fight Stage 4 Breast Cancer

Donation protected
Our beloved friend Kristy Griggs is a 37 year old single mother to a precious 7 year old, autistic son, Ethan. Kristy was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 HERS2+ Invasive Ductal Carcinoma breast cancer. Kristy is a fighter and has already survived tremendous hardship, including a serious car accident in which she broke her neck. Never one to back down from a fight, Kristy fought her way to health and strength and used her gifts to bless and inspire those around her to, like her, rise up from the ashes and become their best selves-  ultimately becoming a personal trainer and sharing her passion for fitness and health.

Kristy is now facing the fight of her life. Unfortunately, the cancer is more advanced than originally suspected (it has spread through her lymph system) and surgery is not an immediate option. She is facing an aggressive course of chemotherapy and then medication to attempt to turn off the HERS2 receptors. This condition will be something Kristy will fight for the remainder of her life. Kristy’s best chance is to qualify for a clinical trial and she and her medical team at City of Hope are looking to get her into one. There is no medicine in existence today that can cure her. We are praying for a miracle and for the development of medicines of tomorrow to extend Kristy’s life so that she can continue to raise little Ethan, for whom she has tenaciously advocated since birth, and to get him the much needed services and resources he has- and will continue to- require.

Kristy is a force of nature, her soul is pure and good. She is brave, loyal, kind, strong, honest- and unflinching. She embodies the words of Mother Teresa: “[l]et no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.”  Kristy has and does give so freely of herself, her time and her heart, for her whole life- she has touched so many lives around her. AND SHE NEEDS US NOW.

Please help us help Kristy, who has never asked for help but understands and appreciates that she needs it now. Her tribe is seeking to raise funds to assist Kristy and Ethan so that she can focus on her treatment; chemotherapy will be arduous and exhausting and Kristy will not be able to work. Kristy does not have the finances, insurance or support structure that so many others enjoy. Kristy will need help with rent, childcare, living and medical expenses as she battles this monster.

While the numbers and statistics/expectancies are sobering, our Kristy is not a number. She has spent her whole life training her body and mind; she is a fighter with an indomitable spirit, and she has the biggest and best motivation to fight and live- to raise Ethan into adulthood.

We are a community of people who believe in asking for help when we need it, and giving help when we can offer it. WE BELONG TO EACH OTHER.

“Find out how much God has given you and from it take what you need; the remainder is needed by others.”  – Saint Augustine

“What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.”  – Albert Pike

More information will be forthcoming on a meal train to support Kristy and Ethan while she is in treatment. Please stay tuned.

God bless you for your consideration and support. With gratitude,

Kristy’s Tribe #kristystrong
