Allison Longo is not just a person - she's a force of nature. She (and her Casio 10-key) have been in my life for over three years, during such time she has transitioned from me teaching her to her teaching me, from coworker to friend, and where we stand today - family. Allison is the first to volunteer to help others, which is why I was not surprised at all when she informed me that her best friend had been diagnosed with breast cancer and she was moving in to help. Not long after that - the unthinkable happened: Allison was diagnosed with breast cancer herself.
Since that time, Allison has moved again - this time to be closer to family to help her through her treatment. She has completed five grueling months of weekly chemotherapy, and is currently ramping up for an invasive surgery and almost two months of daily radiation.
Between now and the end of the year, Allison has a lot going on.
- Moving into her own place (next week, ack!)
- Surgery (in two weeks!)
- Radiation (starting in October)
- Medical Leave
Allison has already had to cover significant medical costs, as well as her moves - with another coming up. Your donation can help provide stability during her move, make up the difference in income during her leave, and bridge the gap to decrease stress during this already very stressful time.
She would be the first to say 'no' to this, but I know that like me, many of you want to help in some way - any way. Most of us are not local, we can't bake a casserole or hold her hand during a treatment. What we can do, is organize and support her from afar by providing funds to support her.
If you can support with a little, or a lot, I promise she feels your love and anything you can do will make a difference - even if it's just a little prayer or a note to say you care.
