Hello!

Welcome to our Team Love donor page for our dear Phil Wiggins. The reason for this project is to help support Phil and his family as he is facing some serious health challenges.

 

Phil has been in treatment for cancer for some time, which will be ongoing. Some of you already know, and some don’t. For those who do, thank you for being such wonderful friends and family members.

 

If you are just learning of this, we are sorry to share this news and in this way. Social media has been avoided even though his health hasn’t been a secret. As is his way, Phil has not wanted people to worry about him. If you know him, that won’t surprise you.

 

You may know Phil a little, and you may know him well. His story in the music world has been told throughout the years, most recently in his wonderful biography Sweet Bitter Blues ,  written by Phil and his good friend Frank Matheis.

Phil is a National Heritage Fellow and internationally beloved musician.  He is a blues harmonica master, singer and songwriter.  He has toured the world for over 40 years both on his own and as part of the duo Cephas & Wiggins.  

 

There will be more here soon about Phil for those who are interested. For now, we just want to get Team Love up and running quickly and simply.

 

We both lost our work with the pandemic, as many of us have. I have been Phil's primary caregiver and medical advocate, and all my other work has been on hold. Phil has played a few joyful gigs as things opened somewhat. We want him to have healthy rest as much as possible and play when it truly suits him, without work pressure for financial reasons.

 

Phil has a wonderful medical team and is in good hands. We are holding up well with much love and support.

 

We ask that you hold us close in your hearts and treasure that above all else. Thank you so much for adding your own version of love and support, as it suits you best. No words can express how much Team Love means to us.
