My name is Darrell and my wife is Tracey. We are creating a Go Fund me to help a precious little girl named Rylee. We are very close friends of Rylee and her parents and are trying to help lessen their burden as much as possible so they can keep their focus on this little angel. There will be many tough weeks and months ahead and we ask for prayers and any donation helps. Please see Rylee’s story below.
Rylee came down with a cold just shortly after thanksgiving with a sore throat and cough. The cold lasted approx 15 days. Within that time she started to look pale, and really started to complain about sore knees, she had no energy, stopped playing with her toys and just did not seem like herself anymore. Rylee continued to get more pale over time and could only take a few steps without crying that her knees hurt.
On Friday November 11, 2022 at 1pm Brent and Stacey decided it was time to take Rylee to ambulatory care in Sylvan Lake. After some blood work they found that Rylee's hemoglobin and platelets were very low. Normal hemoglobin is 150 and Rylee's were at 3. The doctor then told Brent and Stacey to go home and pack there bags and head to the Stollery Childrens hospital in Edmonton, AB. Once there, they admitted Rylee to the Oncology ward. She had to have 2 blood transfusions to raise her hemoglobin and platelets in order to perform a bone marrow biopsy. On Monday November 14, 2022 they sedated Rylee to perform her bone marrow biopsy to determine if she had Leukemia. The test results came back the next day (Nov 15) and Rylee was diagnosed with ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC LEUKEMIA. Rylee has 91% blasts in her bone marrow, which means she has abnormal immature white blood cells (called blasts) that multiply uncontrollably, filling up the bone marrow, and preventing production of other cells important for survival, namely red blood cells and platelets. This leads to infections, anemia and abnormal bleeding.
This road ahead will be long and no child should have to go through this without mom and dad by their side, just as no parent should need to worry about finances when they need to focus on their child in such a critical time. At the stage she is now, immediate attention is required as this is very invasive and will require an array of medical and integrative professional treatments for the foreseeable future not limited to Canada. There will be immense family costs, including travel, procedures, accommodations, and loss of work and income. We pray that our networks and communities can all step up together and spread the need to save this beautiful and innocent little girl. We ask for anything that can be afforded and for us all to be reminded that no one chooses to be in this position and when we all get the opportunity to wake up healthy we MUST be there for others.
Thank you in advance
