About the same time we were all learning of the pandemic and how it would change our lives, our co-worker and friend, Ryan Funk and his family were receiving the devastating news that every parent dreads.   Mary Kate, their 16-month old daughter, has a malignant brain tumor.   The tumor was ultimately diagnosed as a very rare form of aggressive cancer.

Mary Kate just finished her first round of chemotherapy.   Due to the aggressive nature of the cancer, the chemo doses are very strong, requiring a week long hospitalization each time.   Hospitalization during a pandemic introduces a special set of hardships which limits the compassionate support services the family would normally receive.

This coming July after completion of  two rounds of chemotherapy in Sacramento, Ryan and his family will need to temporarily relocate to San Francisco for 3 months to receive advanced treatment at University of California, San Francisco.

Ryan and his wife Allison have four beautiful children under the age of 9 and will need to navigate maintaining the care of their children and two homes while fighting cancer with Mary Kate.

Please join us in supporting the family during this time so that they can concentrate every bit of their strength and energy towards caring for Mary Kate.
