Team NHS TRI to move for Jim!
Donation protected
Our NHS colleague and friend, Jim, was knocked off his bicycle by an articulated lorry in London on 21st July 2020. He has somehow, against all the odds, survived but with life changing injuries. He lost his right arm at the scene and was airlifted to Kings College Hospital. For over 5 weeks Jim was kept in an induced coma, giving his vital organs time to start healing. He continues his recovery in hospital and now looks towards his future.
Jim has dedicated the last 16yrs at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital to helping patients regain and improve their mobility. He really does go the extra mile for each and every patient. It's now our turn to do a few miles and to help him on his road to recovery and prosthetic rehabilitation. We truly believe if anyone can get back to work after this accident Jim can. He is a real life superhuman!
His team of 9 Orthotists from the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital are going to recreate one of his biggest achievements-winning the Iron Man relay in Mallorca. We will ‘travel’ the 1134 miles to Mallorca by running/cycling/swimming and this will end with us doing a team Ironman on the Hospital site on 26th November!
