Our fab friend Elisabeth Pugh has been busy for the past 3 years, making memories with her young daughters and her husband, Mike; clocking up the "firsts", experiencing life to the fullest and defying all the odds.
Elisabeth was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, also known as GBM4 in 2020. GBM is the most common, high grade, incurable brain cancer.
The average life expectancy is 12-18 months, yet only 25% of people make it past a year, and only 5% make it to 5 years.
After several surgeries, repeated cycles of a cocktail of cancer fighting drugs, multiple scans and the ups and downs of "results" days, a new surgery is imminent, following a recent growth of new cancer cells.
Aside from this devastating news, treatment comes with so many unforeseen demands and additional expenses.Travel and childcare costs whilst Elisabeth is in and out of hospital - even just the coffee from a vending machine after a sleepless night adds up over time. Prescription costs for increased doses of chemo and associated treatments. All while juggling the cost of living crisis on one income. She should be focussing on herself and living life to the fullest - not worrying about money.
Since the diagnosis, Elisabeth and Mike have raised thousands of pounds for critical research into brain tumors for the Brain Tumor Research charity and Brain Tumour Support, through organising local community events, doing marathon runs, sponsored walks and even arranging and playing the viola in special Christmas concerts with the XBYCO orchestra! Elisabeth is the most selfless, loving, generous friend - always asking what she can do for others and never asking for anything for herself.
Please consider helping out this very deserving family with whatever you can and thank you for taking the time to read. For Elisabeth, our feisty, formidable and fabulous friend - we've got you!
