Team Remiges V Take On The Worlds Toughest Row 2026!
Donation protected
Hello and welcome!
We are team Remiges Quinque (V) - The 5 Oarsmen. A team of 5 men who work together in the offshore industry and are now looking to work together in a different capacity to achieve something life defining.
If you've already made it this far then we thank you for your interest and support.
The challenge - We have officially been signed up and accepted into the roster for the WORLDS TOUGHEST ROW 2026! What does this mean? It means That Will, Brian, Stu W, Declan & Stu B are going to be rowing across the Atlantic Ocean - A feat that has been conquered less times than Mount Everest!
We will be rowing in groups of 3 in constant rotation of 2 hours on and 2 hours off, 24/7 for a period of between 30-50 days. 3000 miles across the ocean from the Canary Islands to Antigua unsupported under nothing but our own physical and mental capabilities as we make our own water, carry our own food, battle 20-30 foot waves, interact with wildlife and navigate our way across the world in the name of adventure, teamwork and charity. Extreme isolation with nothing but ocean in view for weeks at a time.
Why would we want to do something like this? First of all, WHY NOT?! More importantly, as well as the personal satisfaction of completing such a gargantuan challenge it also offers the team the opportunity to raise much needed funds and awareness of our chosen charity partners. Chosen due to being close to the teams hearts we will be raising funds for the following three charity organisations who all do outstanding work within our country every day
The Royal Navy & Royal Marine Charity
MND Scotland
MindBodySole Mental Health Charity
We look forward to sharing our updates working with our charities throughout our journey and hope to showcase exactly why we think they are the perfect partners and how excited we are to make a difference.
As you can imagine carrying out an expedition like this carries a huge financial burden. One which the team is attempting to cover mainly via corporate sponsorship, personal contribution and generous gifts from friends, family & colleagues.
Having already paid our entrance fee's there is still a huge logistical challenge to overcome with training, equipment, travel and most importantly a boat to pay for! Even food will cost in the region of £3k per team member for the duration of the trip as we will have to eat in excess of 5000 calories each per day of specially selected ration style food that will last the trip!
Our aim has always been to be able to raise the required funding through our corporate funding partners of which approximately £10k has already been generously raised through offline support and partnerships already agreed prior to the start of our fundraiser.
With this in mind in order to move into the further phases of the challenge which will make gaining further support and partnerships viable we are looking to start our fundraiser to enable us to generate the required funding to move forward with our boat purchase.
In an ideal world we would simply ask friends, family and colleagues to donate to our charities as support of our mission but raising money in this fashion allows us to move the project through the next phases.
We would like to be clear and say that raising money in this challenge will still count towards our charities - The boats and equipment have a very good retention of value and we will be looking to sell on everything used especially the boat to a future team and ALL funds raised from this will be split between our charity partners. So a contribution to us now is still a donation to them later!!
The target has been set to cover ALL costs including a brand new boat and equipment (which will carry higher resale and charitable donation upon completion) as well an contingencies. The hope is we will be able to reduce the overall outlay as we move through the project but especially with our corporate contributions we are hoping to raise the full amount which will allow us to divert our personal contributions and donations received closer to the race and after directly to our chosen charities. Any amount raised over our costs will be diverted straight to charity.
We will of course not be making anything at all from the challenge and each member will have a considerable financial input to the teams goals and will be taking a fair amount of time off work as well to facilitate it.
A quick breakdown of our costs shows the following
- 5 man ocean rowing boat including travel trailer & shipping to La Gomera and home from Antigua -£122,500
- Remaining race entrance fee (5,000 Euros already paid by team) - £18,500
- Mandatory ocean rowing and safety training courses - £12,000
- Team nutrition during ocean expedition - £15,000
- Insurances including boat whilst on land! - £5,000
- Boat storage/berthing pre race/during training - £5,000
- PR & Website development - £2,000
- Travel & accommodation - £10,000
- Contingency - £10,000
The above shows exactly the scale and scope of the challenge ahead of us and why we need your support! It is a monumental undertaking from all involved as well as those people who are offering assistance and the logistical portion of the challenge is going to last for the next 2.5 years and potentially beyond.
Although this is a general call to arms to our wider network we do have specific corporate sponsorship available via our tailored corporate packages. These can be adjusted to suit as well as we work with stakeholders to find a suitable package so if you are a from a company or work with someone who may be interested please reach out to one of the team to be provided with our sponsorship information presentation - This contains a lot of information about the challenge as well so feel free to ask for it out of curiosity also!
For smaller business contributions (or eager friends and family!) we have initiated our 'supper club'. This is a donation of £250 or more which has the effective result of feeding the entire crew for a day and in effect getting us 1 day closer to Antigua thanks to you guys! Any donations of £250 will include the opportunity to mark the boat somewhere suitable with the company/persons name and/or a message. Businesses will also have the opportunity to receive dedicated social media shout outs in the lead up to the event and also a place on our supper club wall of fame on the team website!
Please reach out and ask for more information or any questions we have as we LOVE talking about it and will be happy to provide any answers you're looking for.
From the boys in the team we thank each and every person who supports on from the bottom of our hearts.
Lets smash this and see just how far we can go! (at least 3000 miles..)
