Team Sarah & Mark: Memorial & Posthumous Support

Hello Family, Friends, and Friends of Friends of Mark Kanights and Sarah Lassek.

 

It is with a very heavy heart that I share the news of Mark's sudden passing two weeks ago in Los Angeles.

 

This tragic and sudden accident has devastated our families, friends, and community. Most specifically, his wife (and my sister) Sarah, his mother Ardine Kanights, his brother Bryce Kanights, and his wife Donna Murakami-Kanights.

 

 

For those of you who are not aware, on Sunday, February 6th, Mark was killed while on his motorcycle by a reckless driver, only blocks away from their home.

 

 

As anyone who knew Mark, he was loved by SO many. He was an incredibly kind, loving, generous man with a true joie de vie! He gave everything he had to everything he did, and everyone he knew. His positivity (and hustle) in his attitude and approach to life brought joy. He will be missed, immensely.

 

 

Sarah and Mark were each other's "person". Sharing a passion for good friends, good food, things that go fast, and a true, loving companionship that comes around so rarely in this life. They met ten years ago. Ironically, on Valentine's Day over a tequila and soda, of course. It was off to the races for adventure, and a shared journey from the start.

 

 

Needless to say, NO one is prepared to lose a loved one. And, certainly, not in this way. There are no words that anyone could write here and no amount of money will bring him back.

 

 

Thank you so much to all of you who have reached out to us to ask what you can do to support and help Sarah as she puts the pieces back together. The near-term answer to your questions is that we are raising a GoFundMe to help Sarah. Together, we can help her cover unforeseen expenses and support her in the way that Mark would, as a community. The responsibilities and burdens previously shared by two, are now shouldered by one.

 

 

We hope that this helps give Sarah a small measure of peace of mind knowing she is supported. No amount is too small. Your continued thoughts, prayers and generosity are greatly appreciated.
