A little extra help for Shayleen and her family...
Those of us that are lucky enough to know this goddess know that she is a true diamond…a 10 carat flawless princess cut if we'd have to be specific.
Shayleen is the epitome of class accessorized with a touch of sass.
Shayleen is the best of best friends to have. She is a strong, kind and considerate woman who goes out of her way to make everyone around her feel loved and important. Shayleen has a heart of gold...24 Carat…solid.
Nobody plans for stuff like this and it's crazy how life can change so much in the blink of an eye.
Shayleen, her incredible husband Erik and their son, Erikito have a long uphill battle of healing ahead of them. Let's help ease some of the burden so that they can focus on Shayleen's road to recovery. Shayleen, you better believe we will all be watching you walking down that road...red bottoms and all.
Shayleen & Erik, it's our turn to love you back. We are here for you.
This is what Shayleen wrote this morning, March 11, 2020 about what happened:
"Real talk...I am an incredibly private person so please understand how hard it is for me to share this. Last week I suffered a vertebral artery dissection in the cerebellum part of my brain. Unfortunately the dissection caused me to have 4 to 5 ischemic strokes. I know- I’m still trying to process it all myself. I still have all of my functions and I am mentally still sharp as a tack so don’t try me. It’s still me.
Unfortunately where the strokes occurred in my brain have caused some damage which will take some time to heal. This Monday they found a small hole in my heart. There is a lot I still don’t know, there is a going to be a long journey ahead but it’s going to take a lot more than this to take me down. I will never surrender. I’m going to be back but I’m going to need help which is really hard for me to ask for. My heart is full of gratitude -for ALL of it. Mostly the people that have helped me through possibly the most painful week of my life.
The staff at Prestige ER, the entire neurology dream team Methodist ICU, my Campari family, our SAPD blue line family, and many friends and family that have reached out. My sister Joy for helping with our niño. My prayer warrior #1, Irene. Thank you all for your kindness.
❤️ Most importantly I am grateful for my rock, truly the love of my life, my best friend who has not left my side. He has had the duty to deliver updates to everyone while keeping it all together to stay strong for me and our little boy, my hero, my husband, Erik."
