Team Speights AL Travel Fundraiser

Hi, my name is Adam Spiller. Currently I am the head coach and program director for Team Speights Alabama. We are a purely independent grassroots basketball team. Our team is primarily based out of Mobile Alabama but we have players come to us from all over the gulf coast. This will be my seventh year coaching travel ball, but only our third 17U team. For those that are unaware of the impact COVID has had on high school basketball recruits, I’m going to give you a run down. The normal percentage of high school players that go on to play basketball at the collegiate level is 3%. That number has decreased since covid tremendously. Our strong relationships with college coaches at all levels along with our relationships with tournament directors has allowed us to put our players in the most optimal position to be recruited as a high school player. Our first graduating class was the 2021 class. We had eleven players on that team. Of those eleven, 7 have gone on to play basketball at the collegiate level. Three of those players are on full athletic scholarships. Our 2022 class is still in the process of their recruitment but we have been blessed to already sign two of our players on full athletic basketball scholarships at the Division 1 level. We also had one of our players just sign a full ride scholarship to play football at Air Force. Our percentage of athletes going on to play at the next level FAR exceeds the norm, but we need your help in order for myself and our staff to be able to continue this mission.

I want to break down an average weekend for a travel basketball team like ours.

-Hotel Cost $1,200 for players and coaches rooms

-Van Rental for team $400

-Gas $140

-Tournament Fee $350

TOTAL- $2,090 on average.

Let me be clear, we cannot get this done without the help of great supporting parents. There will be weekends where we are able to car pool and do other things to help us save money. With that said, its never guaranteed. Every coach on our staff are volunteers. Myself included. We need your help to make this possible for our players and our staff. This summer will be vital for their recruitment with the NCAA announcing they will be having four evaluation periods that Division 1 and Division 2 coaches will be able to watch our players in person! Any and all donations are more than appreciated! Every penny counts for us!
