Team Stef and Trish

Friends, competitors and now teammates, Tricia Mangan and Stefanie Fleckenstein are teaming up to take on the World Cup Speed Circuit!

Our Mission
As we head into the 2022/23 season, we are determined and excited to continue our pursuit of World Cup success and use our platforms to inspire young athletes to work hard at their passions and never stop believing in their dreams. Unconventional paths are not always celebrated, and we want to encourage athletes to take pride in their hard work no matter what it looks like from the outside. We hope to demonstrate to others that there is not one set path to success, and if you really believe in yourself, you can make it.

With 2 Olympic Games, 7 World Junior Championships, 2 college degrees, 5 NCAA National Championships, and 40 FIS World Cup starts, our small team has accomplished some big things. And at only 25 years old, we are both confident that our best results are ahead of us.

Our Plan to Go Fast and Give Back
Going Fast:
With the help of many mentors, we have created an Independent World Cup Speed Program that we feel will best provide the support we need to achieve World Cup success. We plan to commit full-time to the World Cup Speed Circuit this season and are eager to take the knowledge and experience from our first WC Speed season last year to work our way into the WCSL top 30.

Giving Back:
From overcoming setbacks and challenges to redefining what success means, we have learned so much from ski racing and continue to grow tremendously. We want to help support other young athletes, especially girls, to feel this empowerment through sport. We’re committing to this goal by working with existing non-profits to target growth in grassroots programs, hosting in-person workshop events to encourage community through sport, and creating empowering messaging through podcasts, blog posts, YouTube and social media.

Why We Need Your Help
Starting our own Speed Team will entail financing for two World Cup coaches, a ski technician, quality summer speed training and prep, in addition to World Cup training and competitions throughout the season. In total, our season will cost $250,000. We both work part-time and apply for non-profit grants and scholarships to defray this cost. Additionally, we are working hard to build our brands, promote partnerships and give back to the ski racing community. But given the expenses this year, we still need help to achieve our goals, so we have started a Go Fund Me to raise money to support our season. We have set our initial goal at $50,000 to help get our team off the ground. All money donated will go towards our team’s expenses, including purchasing coaching and training equipment, covering travel and lodging expenses, and helping finance our summer prep camps.

We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to pursue our goals at the World Cup Level and appreciate all the support we have received so far. We are excited to pay it forward as much as possible through sharing our stories and supporting and encouraging the next generation.

If you’re interested in tax deductible donation options, corporate sponsorships, brand marketing, or other partnership benefits please reach out to us directly so we can connect!

Bio: Growing up in Buffalo, NY with five siblings, I took an alternative path to the US Ski Team. I was a chaotic skier from a tiny mountain in Western New York and could only train a couple of times a week. I always knew my path made me the underdog, and this mindset fueled my passion for always improving on and off the hill.

As I continued my pursuit of my World Cup and Olympic dreams, I didn’t take the conventional path of foregoing school. Instead, I simultaneously finished my studies at Dartmouth College while competing internationally. This feat was challenging, but it allowed me to grow tremendously, as I was forced to figure out and then prioritize what was most important to me and focus on efficiency and hard work.

When looking at my results to date, I am most proud of my commitment, passion and individuality. As I continue my career on the World Cup, I hope to inspire others to step out of tradition and find new ways to create their own speed in ski racing and life.

Bio:My name is Stefanie Fleckenstein (Stef Fleck), and I am a 24-year-old alpine ski racer from Whistler, BC. My ski racing journey began when I was just two years old and at the age of 12, I attended my first Olympics... as a spectator. The 2010 Whistler Olympics sparked my Olympic dream and for the past 12 years I have pushed myself to achieve that dream.

I first made the Canadian National Team at the age of 18 and after two years of competing for the National Team full-time, an injury in my leg put my journey on pause. While I was rehabbing, I decided to start my college education at the University of Colorado Boulder, where I had the opportunity to race on CU’s NCAA, D1 Ski Team. My academics pushed me in a way that I hadn’t previously experienced and even though I loved having the opportunity to race while doing school, I missed pursuing my goals full-time.

This past season I competed part-time in Europe on the World Cup speed circuit, as well as on the North American NorAm circuit. I was pushed to my limits, having to time-trial for every World Cup opportunity, but I gained valuable experience and realized I was able to compete with the best in the world. During my time racing in North America I was able to win the Downhill NorAm title, place second in the Super-G NorAm title, and secure second in the NorAm Overall. These results have secured me a full-time World Cup position for next season and I am incredibly excited to put my newfound experience to the test.

Thank you so much for all the support! We are excited to have you join our team this season.
