WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
While we are thrilled at the opportunity to compete for our country at the World Championships, the expenses involved in our journey to Shanghai are great and any contribution you make will be very much appreciated and will assist us in achieving our dream. Your contributions will help to cover the costs of travel, registration, uniform, and accomodation, which will total around $2500 for each of us.

WHAT WE DO

Hi we are Team Teal, a group of 11-12 year olds from Northbridge Knockouts Skipping Club in Sydney. We started skipping from around the age of 6 and compete in state and national competitions every year which are held in Sydney, Canberra, and Queensland.

Skipping is diverse and involves single rope, double dutch and speed events, where performances are judged on creativity and difficulty. Our involvement in skipping has allowed us to make new friends as well as develop our fitness in an enjoyable way. Skipping is not only fun, but it is also challenging as we are always working to achieve new goals both as a team and individually. It is rewarding for us to accomplish these goals and see our hard work at training pay off at competitions.

Upon placing 2nd overall in the 11-12 category at the 2017 National Championships held in Brisbane, Queensland, our team qualified to represent Australia and compete at the FISAC World Rope Skipping Championships in Shanghai, China in July 2018. We are very excited as this will be our first time competing at the World Championships and are proud that we have been given the opportunity to finally fulfil a long held dream of ours.

MEET TEAM TEAL

Ava

Hi my name is Ava and I have been skipping for 6 years. I love skipping because I am able to bond with my teammates and improve my fitness whilst having a good time. Skipping has given me the opportunity to compete for my club and now also for my country, which is something that not a lot of people get the chance to do.

Aggie

Hi my name is Aggie and I started skipping because I saw the potential to make new friends whilst improving my fitness in a fun environment. Skipping has given me the opportunity to compete at a state, national and now international level. Competing at worlds means that I will be representing my country in the sport that I love and enjoy.

Heidi

Hi my name is Heidi and I like skipping because it is a unique sport as not many people have heard of it and I love the challenges it brings. I also like how it allows me to be creative. I have had so much fun skipping with new friends and I have a lovely coach that helps all of us to achieve our goals and our best.

Sally

Hi my name is Sally and skipping is really fun. I like to travel around Australia for competitions, which allows me to meet new people from all over the nation who share the same passion for skipping as I do. Now that I am going to the world championships in Shanghai, I will get to meet people from around the world.

Our coach, Rupina, who is 18 years old, also competes in the sport of skipping and we are so proud to finally join her at the world championships this year. She has been coaching us for the last 6 years, since we first started and has helped us to achieve so much and get to where we are now. She is a great role model and we love her so much.
