Hope for Wendy

On Feb. 16, 2012, Wendy suffered a spinal cord injury from a medical procedure. Over the past 3.5 years, she has fought to overcome this injury through various doctors and therapy. Unfortunately, nothing has improved and things have only gotten worse. Wendy endures severe, 24/7 spinal cord pain and her neurological function has declined. As a result, she is often confined to her bed or the couch all day.
Recently, Wendy has been offered a promising treatment by Dr. Sheldon Jordan, a highly recognized neurologist in Los Angeles, CA, neurologywestla.com/neurologist/dr-sheldon-jordan/. There is no surgery to fix the injury, but this procedure looks promising to help improve her pain and motor skills. Her treatment begins Aug 10th and will require daily outpatient treatment for 6 weeks. She will be required to leave her family in Fresno, CA to live in Santa Monica for the treatment. During this time, her husband Marcos will stay home to care for their two beautiful children, Collin (11) and Addison (9), as they return to school.
Insurance will not pay for this treatment, which is close to $9,000. In addition, Wendy will need to stay in a medical housing facility for 6 weeks, which comes to about $6,000. There will be additional public transportation and food costs. The burden is going to be more than Wendy and Marcos imagined, with financial costs and the separation of their family, but they are doing this with the hope and prayers that this will help.
Please consider providing a donation, of any size, to Wendy’s treatment. And, above all else, please join me in praying for Wendy and her family. This is a promising treatment that can hopefully give her back some of the life she had before the injury. Wendy thanks her family and friends for being a great support over the last 3.5 years of her journey and she gives God ALL of the glory for getting her through each day.
Sincerely,
Alisa Huff
